FAREWELL TOUR 1964-2017
ROYAL WANGANUI OPERA HOUSE

When the 1960’s British Invasion hit worldwide, Herman’s Hermits were one of the biggest groups out of the UK with their hits, Mrs Brown you’ve got a lovely daughter, No milk today, I’m Henry VIII, There’s a kind of hush, A must to avoid and 15 other NZ Top 10 hits. After 50 years Herman’s Hermits long relationship with New Zealand which started in 1966 when they had New Zealand’s first ever No.1 ‘A Must To Avoid’ when charts begun on the 25th of March 1966 and their first tour with Tom Jones in January of that year is about to have its curtain call.
Since 1971 and the departure of Peter Noone to pursue a solo career in the music business, the group has never stopped. Original member Barry Whitwam has guided the band from strength to strength into one of the hardest working acts in the business -they still average more than 200 concerts per year. “It’s all about the songs”, Whitwam says, “and we were very lucky to have had a lot of hits in the sixties that people still want to hear today. We’re very lucky!”
It’s been five years since “The Hermits” last toured New Zealand on a sell out tour of NZ theatres in the main centres with Gerry & The Pacemakers, now by popular demand the UK group are returning for a 10 date tour of the NZ heartland performing in a mix of provincial towns and cities.
The 2017 World Tour for the band includes a comprehensive UK run of dates, then New Zealand followed by Australia, then back for another 3 months of concerts around the UK and Europe.
